Los Angeles County GovernmentLos Angeles County, one of California's original 27 counties, was established by charter on Feb. 18, 1850. County Government is run through its five member Board of Supervisors Each Supervisor is an elector of the district which he represents and must reside in that district during his incumbency. He/she must have been an elector for at least one-year immediately preceding his election, and shall be elected by such district. Supervisors serve for four year and cannot work for any other governmental or public entity for a salary during his her term of office.
